Service Terms and Conditions

Last Updated: December 1, 2025

These terms and conditions govern the provision of garage door repair, installation, maintenance, and related services by Preferred Doors LLC (hereafter "we," "us," or "the Company") to customers (hereafter "you" or "Customer") in the Houston Metropolitan Area. By requesting or accepting our services, you agree to be bound by these terms.

1. Service Calls and Estimates

1.1 Free Estimates

We provide free estimates for new door installations and major projects. Estimates are provided in good faith based on information provided by the Customer and visual inspection. Final pricing may vary if conditions differ from those described or observed during the estimate.

1.2 Diagnostic Service Calls

For repair services, a diagnostic service call fee may apply to cover the cost of dispatching a technician, evaluating the problem, and providing a repair quote. This fee will be disclosed prior to scheduling and may be waived or credited toward completed repairs at the Company's discretion.

1.3 Approval Required

No repair work will be performed without your explicit approval of the quoted price. You have the right to decline any recommended service without obligation beyond any applicable diagnostic fee.

2. Pricing and Payment

2.1 Payment Terms

Payment is due upon completion of services unless other arrangements have been made in writing. We accept cash, check, and major credit cards. For installations and major projects, a deposit may be required prior to ordering materials or commencing work.

2.2 Price Changes

If additional problems are discovered during service that were not apparent during the initial inspection, we will notify you immediately and provide a revised quote before proceeding with additional work.

2.3 Non-Payment

Accounts not paid within 30 days of invoice date may be subject to late fees and/or collection action. Customer agrees to pay all costs of collection, including reasonable attorney's fees.

3. Warranties and Guarantees

3.1 Labor Warranty

All service work performed by our technicians is guaranteed against defects in workmanship for a period of 90 days from the date of service, unless otherwise specified in writing. This warranty covers the labor and workmanship of the specific repair or installation performed.

3.2 Parts Warranty

Parts installed by us are covered by the manufacturer's warranty. Standard garage door springs typically carry a manufacturer warranty based on cycle rating. Our lifetime warranty torsion springs carry a lifetime warranty for the original purchaser for as long as they own the property, covering replacement of defective springs (service call fees may apply for warranty installation).

3.3 Warranty Limitations

Warranties do not cover:

  • Damage caused by misuse, abuse, accidents, or acts of nature
  • Normal wear and tear on components not replaced during service
  • Damage caused by unauthorized repairs or modifications
  • Failure to perform recommended maintenance
  • Damage from power surges, electrical issues, or improper voltage
  • Components or systems we specifically advised should be replaced but Customer declined

3.4 Warranty Claims

To make a warranty claim, contact us during normal business hours. We will schedule a service call to evaluate the issue. If the problem is determined to be covered under warranty, we will repair or replace the defective part or workmanship at no charge. If the issue is determined not to be warranty-covered, standard service rates will apply.

4. Safety and Liability

4.1 Safety Inspections

During service, our technicians perform a safety inspection and will inform you of any components that fail safety standards or pose a hazard. If you decline to repair or replace components identified as unsafe, you assume all liability for injury or damage that may result from the unsafe condition. You may be required to sign a liability waiver acknowledging the unsafe condition.

4.2 Property Protection

We take reasonable precautions to protect your property during service. However, Customer is responsible for removing or protecting any valuable or fragile items in the work area. We are not liable for damage to items not directly related to the garage door system.

4.3 Pets and Children

For the safety of our technicians and your family, please secure all pets and ensure children are supervised and kept away from the work area during service.

4.4 Limitation of Liability

Our liability for any claim arising from our services is limited to the amount paid for the specific service that gave rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including but not limited to lost profits, business interruption, or damage to vehicles or property stored in the garage.

5. Scheduling and Cancellation

5.1 Scheduling

We schedule service appointments based on availability and will provide you with an estimated arrival window. While we strive to meet scheduled times, delays may occur due to traffic, previous job complications, or other factors beyond our control.

5.2 Customer Cancellation

If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please provide at least one business day's notice. Late cancellations or no-shows may be subject to a cancellation fee.

5.3 Access to Property

Customer is responsible for ensuring our technicians have access to the work area at the scheduled time. If access cannot be provided and we are unable to complete the service, standard service call fees may apply.

6. Installation Services

6.1 Product Selection

We will provide professional recommendations for products based on your needs, budget, and the specifications of your opening. Final product selection is the Customer's decision. We are not liable for issues arising from Customer's selection of products against our professional recommendation.

6.2 Existing Conditions

Installation quotes are based on standard conditions. If structural issues, code violations, or other problems are discovered during installation that were not apparent during the estimate, additional charges may apply to correct these conditions. We will notify you before proceeding with any additional work.

6.3 Disposal of Old Equipment

Unless otherwise arranged, we will remove and dispose of old garage doors, openers, and related components replaced during installation. Disposal is included in installation pricing unless the quote specifically states otherwise.

6.4 Installation Timeline

Standard residential installations are typically completed in 4-6 hours. Commercial installations or custom doors may require longer installation times. We will provide an estimated timeline when scheduling installation.

7. Emergency Service

We offer emergency service for situations where a broken garage door leaves your home unsecured or poses an immediate safety hazard. Emergency service rates may be higher than standard rates and will be disclosed when you call for emergency service. We will make every reasonable effort to provide same-day emergency service, but response times may vary based on technician availability and weather conditions.

8. Maintenance Services

8.1 Preventative Maintenance

Our maintenance service includes inspection, lubrication, adjustment, and minor repairs as needed to keep your garage door operating safely and smoothly. Maintenance does not include replacement of worn parts, which will be quoted separately if needed.

8.2 Maintenance Recommendations

We recommend annual maintenance for typical residential use and semi-annual maintenance for doors with heavy use. Regular maintenance extends the life of your door and reduces the likelihood of unexpected failures. However, maintenance does not guarantee that components will not fail between service visits.

9. General Terms

9.1 Entire Agreement

These terms, together with any written estimate or service agreement, constitute the entire agreement between Customer and Company. No verbal agreements or representations modify these terms unless confirmed in writing.

9.2 Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Updated terms will be posted on our website with the revision date. Continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.

9.3 Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas. Any disputes arising from these terms or our services shall be resolved in the courts of Harris County, Texas.

9.4 Severability

If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
